We invite you to come and take part in Tallapoosa Center for Inner Arts’ 2009 Yoga Teacher Training, a 200-hour certification program that qualifies students to become registered yoga teachers with the national Yoga Alliance. We are proud of our program and confident you will find it to be a journey of transformation, an opportunity to nourish body-mind-spirit in a supportive environment. Whether you intend to teach or just to use the instruction to deepen your own practice, we hope you will be able to join us.
Part 1 Laying the Foundation
As the name implies, in this part of the training we will begin the transformational journey by emphasizing yoga basics, physically and philosophically. It consists of 90 hours of training over three 3-day weekends:
May 16-18 (Saturday through Monday) - 8 AM to 7PM
June 6-8 (Saturday through Monday) - 8AM to 7PM
June 27-29 (Saturday through Monday) - 8AM to 7PM
Part 2 9-Day Intensive
The intensive consists of 90 hours of training over a 9-day period and will serve to deepen and refine your personal practice of yoga as well as offer you tools needed to share the gift of yoga with others.
July 18-26 (Saturday through Sunday) - 8AM to 7PM each day
During the course of the training you will receive instruction in asana, pranayama, meditation, and chanting. You will learn basics of anatomy and physiology as they relate to the practice of yoga and techniques for avoiding injury. You will learn how to embody the spirit of yoga in your practice, and how to inspire and gently guide others to develop their own inner teacher and to use yoga as a process of exploration. You will delve into yogic philosophy and discover that the beauty of asana is just a physical reflection of the mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of yoga that set it apart from many physical regimens. You will immerse yourself in a process of self-discovery and bond with others who are similarly committed.
Investment
The cost, including most training materials (see reading list below for exceptions), is $2195, due by the start of training. If full payment is received by April 18th the cost will be discounted to $2095. Alternately, a two-payment option is available: $1175 payable at the beginning of Part 1 and $1075 payable at the beginning of Part 2. A deposit of $350 will reserve your space. Send your deposit (made payable to Tallapoosa Center) and a brief narrative telling a little about yourself & yoga experience (regular practice for at least one year suggested), your reasons for seeking yoga teacher training, any health issues that might affect your participation, special talents, etc. and mail to Tallapoosa Center, 657 Tyus-Carrollton Rd., Carrollton, GA 30117. Please also include your mailing address, telephone number, and e-mail address.

About Our Yoga
The Center is owned and operated by Karen Sifton, MEd, E-RYT 500 and Roger Hornsby, MA, RYT, LMT, CEEMP, long time practitioners of yoga and Tai Chi Chuan. The yoga taught at the center is an eclectic style, informed not only by Karen's study with Joel Kramer and Angela Farmer and the couple's continuing study with Erich Schiffmann, but also by their experience in the arts of Tai Chi and Chi Kung. Their book Energy, a Practical Guide to Personal Achievement, Health, and Transformation defines their approach by describing yoga (and other inner arts) as disciplines that paradoxically help the practitioner attain freedom, by facilitating the release of blockages to energy - in the physical, mental, and spiritual sense. So yoga at the Center is taught in this light, with strong emphasis on breath, relaxation, and cultivation of the stillness necessary for listening to one's inner teacher, the source of our truest knowing.
Invitation
Yoga is a wonderful gift – one that can truly change your life. Open yourself to the peace and joyful expression of life energy this gift can bring, and then share it with confidence.

Comments on TCIA Teacher Training
“This program offers the
opportunity to deepen personal practice as well as expand your knowledge of
yoga teaching—from practical asana sequences and physiology to presentation and
teaching of the spiritual aspects. Most importantly, Karen and Roger are
dedicated long-time teachers and practitioners. They lead by example and are extraordinary role models
for both aspiring and experienced yoga teachers. I was overwhelmed with gratitude at
the quality of instruction, the kindness and generosity of the teachers, and
the personalized attention.”

“I enjoyed
the teacher training program at TCIA because the class size
was small, the instructors are knowledgeable and very personable, and
the learning atmosphere is open and inviting. I know that I am well
prepared to bring yoga to my community now and would recommend this
training for anyone interested in deepening their yoga practice.”
“Karen - I
consider you to be my true main teacher in life. You are the only person I know
that is truly able to embody and "be the change you wish to see." I
always feel so energized just simply being in your presence. 100 years from now
those Yoga Journal pull-outs will definitely have a beautiful "Tallapoosa
School of Thought" branch on their tree ;)…. I can already see it….”

“I feel so
fortunate that the universe opened up that summer for me to have such an
incredible experience. The training helped to deepen my own personal
practice and it also helped me to start finding the inner teacher within
me. The training was only the beginning of that journey…. Thank you
a thousand times for your wonderful center and your important place in our
precious community.”

“The TCIA teacher training deepened my own practice
tremendously, helping me became a more disciplined and engaged practitioner. Although
I didn’t go into it necessarily to become a teacher, I left with tools,
knowledge, and inspiration that provided a foundation to start teaching. I now
offer yoga in three different settings and have found it to be a most
fulfilling opportunity.”

"It truly was an experience that was richer than I had ever imagined. Karen and
Roger's teacher training helped deepen my practice and gave me tools for adding
creativity to my classes. My students love to hear and participate in the
inspiring chants that I learned during training. Thank you, Karen and Roger, for
your energy, dedication and wisdom."
