"By stimulating the flow of energy, the body's own healing network can be activated."
- Roger Callahan, Ph.D., Tapping the Healer Within
Life force, energy, or Qi, flows through the body in channels called meridians and supplies all the organs, body tissue, and the mind. Qi massage (a variation of Tui Na, or Chinese massage) applies pressure to specific points on the meridians (this is acupressure - and the points are the same that are used in acupuncture) so that the Qi moves more freely and balanced through the body. The distribution of this energy within the body has great effects on all aspects of well-being – emotional, intellectual, and spiritual as well as the physical. When Qi flow is balanced the body/mind will feel more relaxed and have greater vitality. Along with the pressure on the meridian points there is vigorous deep tissue massage and manipulation of joints to fully round out a relaxing, stress-reducing, and a physically and energetically beneficial experience. Qi massage can be done fully clothed (soft, loose, comfortable clothing), fully dis-robed or with whatever amount of clothing that is preferred.
